Okay BO and Rufus are now registered.
Now For the questions,
1) Will there be any Extreme Vertical?? It happens to be the Monkey boy's favorite.
2) Will it be an outside event? (Please)
3) Awards, Ribbons maybe some cash prizes?
4) Is there admission and parking fee's into the event area.
5) Distance traveled between dock and car for waves.
6) WHO IS PLANNING THE BARBEQUE??[/url]

I hope I can answer everything!!!

1) Extreme Vertical - Nope - sorry :(
2) Outside event, should be awesome! 8)
3) Ribbons, yes. Cash prizes are not likely, sorry. Next year would look better for that. This event just happened too fast...
4) We are not directly in the event area, but adjacent to the event area. No admission to our event, but if you want to get in to Kool April Nites it is $7.00 on Saturday only, Sunday admission is free. Since you have pre-registered, I'll get your information probably tonight and snail mail a parking pass to you tomorrow. You will need that to get your vehicle into our area on Saturday. On Sunday you won't need one, just drive on in.
5) The dock and pool are probably about 100 to 125 yards from our parking area. All paved.
6) BBQ - If we have a BBQ it will probably come together at the last minute. Again, next year we'll have more time to plan.

Hope that helps!

I'm sorry to say I can't make Redding...but don't feel too bad for me & Gunner, really....

I'm sorry to miss seeing my pals, especially BOcephus my BBQ buddy, but have some exciting things coming up for myself and our crazy canines. First - am starting a business of my own - Dog Training (go figure) and now is a critical time we've got a flyball class starting, dock jumpig and obedience. Second, my pup Twiztid is finally coming home and will debut in flyball on April 29th weekend! Gotta travel down to San Diego to pick him up...then following that are two flyball tournaments....So am sure you guys all understand timing wise, it's just not right for us.

Good luck all - I know all of you guys will have a blast and Gunner & I will definately see you in Auburn!

Hi Urs:
So sorry your not coming to Redding :( I have told Barbara Darrow all about you (nothing but good things) she has BC's and was looking forward to meeting you. What's Brian going to do without his sidecook??? Good luck on your new venture, perhaps you can even help us with the wild child! He did some really crazy stuff in Vegas! Bryan I can hardly wait to see you! This should be a great time. Is Terry coming too?

Hey Sandra!!

As you can understand venturing off to start a business on my own is going to be very time consuming - was looking forward to Redding but I'm already stretched on time between Kids, home, dogs, work and then the new business.

Bryan - i'm sorry to miss you this time around...wish I could be there....

I will see you all in June though- I promise. And, this time around it woun't just be me and Gunner, my older border collie Sassy will be jumping as well in June! She's 12 yrs old so won't be jumping large but she'll fly somewhat off the dock and at least she'll have some fun!

Bummer URS.,
Funny how everyones time is different.
No way to make a June event in CA. My boy Matthew will graduate the first week in June and we are having our club event on the second weekend of June. When our club puts on an event it takes about 2 months of my time setting up for sponsores and other crap. I am planning on a few celebraties attending this one.
Last time I did a BBQ out of town with out help it cost me a wave and a Ribbon.
Will definately miss my set-up Queen!!!!
Glad your doing well URS!!! We will definately miss ya!!!

Sandra,
We will be there. Would like to talkTony into , Me bringing a EV setup and at least letting more see how exciting it can be. You see it is my BOcephus's favorite partof compitition. He isn't a true LONG jumper more of a LIFTER.
So we will be going down there knowing were not going to be in contention for any long jump.
So basically were coming down to visit our friends!!!!

Bryan if you bring an EV set up I would LOVE to try Miss Matches again! :D :D

I will bring it !
If we can't use it while the event is going on maybe they'll let us try afterwards before the tear down.
It is our main reason for attending events now. BO simply loves it(long as it is outside!!)
My pole set-up makes Tom Dropic and DD's design look like it's from the dinasour age!!!
A nice easy to way to read a accurate measurement on how high their jumping. Plus easy to rehook.

We tried Einstein on EV, and he just doesn't see it. He looks right past the toy, obviously wondering what we are trying to do. I'd like to try him again sometime, but I have no high hopes (no pun intended) for him.

They simply need devolpe the drive to jump at a still hanging object rather than a flying or floating one. Once they got it though it gets extremely exciting.
I remember when we first started jumping for Big air. Of course it was alot of fun, but nothing compared to the excitement we got out of Getting vertical.
All pups have the drive to get vertical!!! They just need our motivational help!! And if I can help Eienstein develop his vertical drive I am more than willing to try!

Sounds like fun - if you guys work it out and get it set up, I'll try him again. What do you suggest in the meantime, maybe suspending a ball on a string from a branch and having him go up for it? That could be some good preparatory groundwork I think. Maybe Reno (our youngun) would like to try that too.

I have gotten a few pups to go for the Extreme flying up in the air compitition. (Vertical retrieve).
The best way I have found is to get them grabbing out of your hand at first. DO this OVER AND OVER!!! Soon they will be asking you to "Hold it up Pa so I can jump up there and get it!"
Now , Mr. BO likes doing the hand grab nearly as much as running his booty full speed back and forth chasing his Flying Monkey.
Once they get that down, then go to the ball hanging from the branch or simply hang a toy from a tree and have them jump for it(careful on the hiegth landing on hard ground). In compitition they use a certain object. But while training him it is by far best to use there favorite toy. I.E) Ball, frisbee, dead fowl, or even a Monkey!! What ever it takes to keep your pup interested. Once they are enjoying it then switch up the toy to what their using in compititions. High Praise is a definate must. When they know your happy with what they are doing it really gets em into it. Which to me is the best training tool there is.(Attitude)Besides Repitition.
Me Personally I think a Kick in the Ass is better than a shock from a collar!!
Though they to must have the confidence in themselfs to be able to jump off the dock without looking down at the water.

I truly believe that this Vertical Retrieve, Super Vertical, Extreme Vertical, Vertical spring launch, Jumping up to get a toy, Whatever it is called where we happen to be, will soon be a major head liner at all shows!!\
Just running down the dock for a long jump will soon take a back seat.
Though Big Air is indeed an awful lot of fun and pretty exciting to watch. Soon as it is figured out how to keep SV progressively rolling without holding up the show to re-attach a toy, it will be off and running!!!
Everyone that see's it wants to try it.
Now everyone reading this admit it.
You want your pup to go vertical!!
Though I honestly do understand that if you got a Long jumping dog you could mess up his distance by having him jump to vertical all the time. I have heard that with heigth comes distance, but when you go to high you will indeed decrease your distance.
With that said; Know your pup, if you feel it will hinder his big air performance, and it may take away some 20' jumps. Don't train so intensely for it.We all know what our pups like. What is truly a shocker is finding a hidden talent that we never knew existed.
For instance) I bet the person I rescued BOcephus from never in their life knew that he would be a WORLD record holder!! You didn't think he was did you!! Well he is!!!
I was even going to phone the Guiness book of world Records to have them watch as BO set the next Record for
Most Banana's eatin by a Dog !! (I nearly have him peeling his own),
Or the
Longest recorded Jump for a Monkey
Really it is mostly all in Repitition and how you praise them!!
If they do it and you let them know it made you happy, they will do it again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again
Pretty soon it is a habit@!
Sorry if I seem to have started blabbing. You see it has become a Habit!! :D :D :D :D
Here's hoping to see you all soon!!!
Bryan Miller, BOcephus, Rrrufus, Abby, and the clan, You really don't want me to list them all. this post is definately long enough!!!
One more shot and I'm off to bed.

Hey Brian,
We are you staying? Got worms?
Are you bringing your verticle dog jumping stuff?
I just found out that Sisko holds the world record at the Purina with
28" 04" jump. Bart & Gunner hit a 28' 2" jump for 2nd place.

Awesome Rob,
I am hoping for the weather to be right and hit one of our old camp sites just south of Dunsmuir. Still not positive but Hotel is probably out of the question since we don't have one booked and I am sure there full.
So we be prayin to the sun God.
I will bring the EV set-up. Wont bring the full version unless I get the trailor finished which is highly unlikely. But the little one is still real nice and easy to work.
Would like to snatch a few of those Browns out of the River their, like we did back in 87. Maybe a quick jog down 299 and hit the Trinity river also.

First of all a huge congratulations to Rob and Bart...oh yeah and the dogs too! Got bad news for you Brian. Weather.com is calling for rain next weekend in Redding. We better all start praying to the weather God! You are right Bryan it will be really hard to get a room with that event going on. I thought we were going to be homeless. Got lucky and got a room at the Oxford Suites on Hilltop. Where is everyone else staying?
